[Pre-Event #MakassarBiennale2019]

There are over 130 Korean Christian-Pastor households living in Taiwan (totally 800-1000 members). One of them is in Sanwan.

On March 13th, supporting by Sanwan Primary School( 三灣國小) , Sanwan Cultural Collective( SCC ) and Christian Sanwan Church (三灣教會) helped the local kids to learn how to interview with the migration issue.

Both Korean Pastor In Su Park (朴仁秀) and Sung Hee Kong(孔聖姬)mentioned they have 28 years staying in Taiwan, as well as 2 daughters finished studying in local schools and “back” Korea by some reasons.

Pastor In Su Park used to study Bahasa Mandarin in Taipei, while Sung Hee Kong learned the local Bahasa Hakka and Mandarin in a church located at the north side of river which separates Sanwan and another town.

Kids needed to ask some questions according to their migrating stories: about food, good or bad memories, different  impression between Sanwan and Seoul. One 10-year-old boy (何銍恩)asked them about the homeless and Gwangju(光州), where during the year of 1980, young university teenagers and local residents fought with the Korean dictator political regime. He knew it by Korean contemporary movies.

Anak-anak perlu menanyakan beberapa pertanyaan mengenai cerita migrasi mereka: perihal makanan, kenangan indah dan buruk, kesan berbeda antara Sanwan dan Seoul. Seorang anak berusia 10 tahun (何銍恩) bertanya mengenai gelandangan dan Gwangju (光州), di mana sepanjang tahun 1980, pemuda universitas dan penduduk lokal memerangi politisi diktator Korea. Anak tersebut mengetahuinya melalui film kontemporer Korea.

With making abundant of interviews, these kids also worked on 4 maps(global, Korea, Taiwan, and Miaoli County)  in order to integrate their geographical perspective and dual narratives. In final they were required to find out where Korea is in the big map. Miss Kong assisted them to get the task enthusiastically, pointing out the South Korea as well as the North one.
